Top MP urges France to make ‘deep reforms’ instead of hosting MKO

Tehran, IRNA – The chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee has urged France to make “deep reforms” in its domestic policies instead of giving tribune to the anti-Iran terrorist group Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO).

“On behalf of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Iran, I condemn the killing of a 17-year-old Algerian Muslim teenager by the French police, which led to a spike in protests in different cities of your country,” Vahid Jalalzadeh said.

According to a Monday report by the IRNA, he made the remarks in separate messages to Jean-Louis Bourlanges, chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly of France, and Christian Cambon, chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the French Senate.

“I would like to say that the government and parliament of the French Republic should take extensive and deep reforms in their wrong attitude and policies, instead of being influenced by the propaganda of the MKO terrorist group in their policy towards the Islamic Republic of Iran and providing them with tribunes to spread hatred,” he said.

Earlier this month, as mass protests were raging across France over the police killing of Nahel Merzouk, Paris hosted an annual rally of the MKO despite Iran’s strong condemnation.

The group has carried out numerous terrorist attacks against Iranian civilians and government officials since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Out of the nearly 17,000 Iranians killed in terrorist attacks over the past four decades, about 12,000 have fallen victim to the MKO’s acts of terror.
